130th Alliance participants: Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria

Reggio Calabria

The President of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, Mr. Jean-Claude Frécon, is happy that the Italian Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria became this week the 130th participant of the European Alliance of Cities and Regions for Roma Inclusion.

The Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria is active in a number of fields of Roma inclusion, as the president of Reggio Calabria, Mr. Antonio Eroi, told president Frécon. It participates in a number of European and Italian projects that deal with social protection, employment opportunities, and training for officials and social workers. Reggio Calabria even acts as a coordinator of some of the projects, such as the Comenius Regio “Oltre” project. Currently, it is drafting the strategy on improving the social protection of the city population for the period until 2018.

With its experience in coordinating projects and its eagerness to work and share experiences with others, the Congress President is convinced that “the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria is a great addition to our network of committed cities and regions.”
