Next Launching Events of ROMED2 and ROMACT

Council of Europe and European Commission joint programme ROMACT will be implemented in several pilot municipalities in Bulgaria and Romania

Following the first national launching meeting of the ROMACT programme together with the new phase of ROMED2, which took place in Budapest with over 100 national and international players, four other official launching events will be held in Albena, Bulgaria on 14 October, in Bucharest, Romania on 15 October, in Kosice, Slovakia on 5 November, a date is still to be set for the launching of ROMACT and ROMED2 in Italy . Several officials from the European Commission, Council of Europe, Open Society Foundations, as well as the representatives of the governments involved in the programme will be taking the floor during the opening session.

The ROMACT project, aimed at improving the capacity of cities and regions in developing and implementing projects for the inclusion of Roma, is an initiative of the Council of Europe and the European Commission in the framework of the European Alliance of Cities and Regions for Roma Inclusion. The project will be implemented in Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia and Italy jointly with the ROMED2 Programme – a follow up on the successful training of Roma mediators, implemented by the Council of Europe and the European Commission since January 2011. ROMACT complements the ROMED2 Programme in boosting participation of Roma communities in democratic governance through mediation and thus producing a real change in their everyday life.
